Christmas traditions
Hi this is Stacy and Samantha and today we are here to tell you about our family's Christmas traditions!
Stacy: At my home on Christmas my dad always reads us "the night before Christmas" but adds in funny humor! Another tradition we do is every Christmas eve each of the children get to choose one gift from under the tree to open early. most of the time we will just do rock paper scissors shoot to decide who goes first or sometimes we will just let someone go first at random. And over Covid we have been calling our family on video chat to open "the first gifts of Christmas" together! Last year was very fun doing that for the first time because it was the first time we did it with my baby brother Jack he was one years old then and now hes two but he really enjoyed ripping open the paper to find out what mysterious toy is inside is just begging to be opened! although at first he was very careful not to damage the paper but then later realized that it was nearly impossible to not hurt it. Inside his "first gift of Christmas" was a little box filled with different shaped holes in it with a litte hatch to pull the shaped blocks out after putting them through the correct hole, he had SO much fun pulling the blocks out which also encouraged him to find the right hole or at least this worked for a little bit until he figured out that he could just put the blocks in through the hatch and pull them out😂🤣. I hope you all enjoy your favorite family traditions and have a wonderful time with your families this Christmas!
Samantha: Here are some of my family's Christmas traditions! Every year we open our presents on Christmas eve. On my mom's side of her family is half German and it is German tradition to open presents on Christmas eve. We open one present at a time from youngest to oldest. Our present from Santa are never wrapped. We have stockings with small things like chapstick, but we also have brown paper bags filled with walnuts and oranges. Before COVID-19 we would go to church every Christmas eve, but now we just drive around and look at our small towns Christmas lights. One of my favorite traditions is that when we look at Christmas lights we yell Christmas carols and it is always the most fun version of chaos. My family loves to watch movies so we watch every Christmas movie you can think of through out the season. Usually on Christmas eve we go to the movie theater. For our Christmas dinner we have ham while turkey is for Thanksgiving. I love my family so much and they always make Christmas special.
